Did we have leaders?
Yet our lives are exposed to danger
Ravaged by deadly but preventable viruses, fear and hunger
Viruses with high predilection to poor
They turned our villages to abattoir
Where innocent souls are being slaughtered
Leaders are inert because their families are in laughter
While we are physically and psychologically traumatized
We cried out loud 'rescue us!'
But our voice is yet to be heard.

Did we have leaders?
A whole village is intruded by gunmen
Innocent souls are killed, maimed and molested
Women are raped and men are beheaded
Wealth is robbed and houses are burned
Extreme fear force occupants to be sleeping on trees
Daily, they pray more than five obligatory prayers
Five routine plus some funeral prayers
Deceased family are never compensated
Even condolence is barely communicated
The whole village is turning to graveyard
Their ever green farms are turning to knacker's yard
We cried out loud 'rescue us!'
But our voice is yet to be heard.

Did we have leaders?
A low class man with a lot of debts
No capital, more tension because he live in a rent
No food and has family to feed
More workload, no salary and fees date exceed
He rely on peasant farming as only source of relief
But his farm is colonized by dreaded bandits
How will he survive?
We cried out loud 'rescue us!'
But our voice is yet to be heard.

Did we have leaders?
A poor family in emotional distress
Their two daughters are kidnapped despite their weakness
They have no money to afford their ransom
And their daughters can never be abandoned
Exchanged all their assets for a little penny
Concerned people donate to soothe their worry
But peoples that delivered the ransom are also detained in bid for more
ransom
How will they bear this mental trauma?
How will they regain their captives and restore their emotional
equilibrium?
We cried out loud 'rescue us!'
But our voice is yet to be heard.
