Federal Ministry of Education Nigeria has Launched Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET)
The Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Initiative is a key program from the Federal Ministry of Education that helps young Nigerians learn hands-on skills to get jobs or start their own businesses.
It works with approved training centers across the country to provide free training, monthly payments, and support to start small businesses in trades that are in high demand
Their goals are:
- Close Nigeria's skills gap
- Empower the youth for self-reliance
- Create a pipeline of skilled workers for industries
- Promote national development through vocational excellence
How it Works
Short-Term Certificate (STC) Programme
- National Identification Number (NIN)
- Bank Verification Number (BVN)
Vocational Education & Innovation (VEI) Programme
- Proof of skills learned informally (like an apprenticeship) – called Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) Or
- First School Leaving Certificate (FSLC) Or
- A certificate from non-formal education (like training from NGOs, religious groups, or community programs)
Application Procedure
- Create an account on the portal
- Choose your preferred program (STC or VEI)
- Fill in your details and upload supporting documents
- Select your preferred training center and trade
- Submit your application and wait for confirmation
